In Wednesday night's semi-final, Rebekah Elmaloglou competed alongside her fellow celebrities for a spot in the Top 3. But while things didn't go her way, and she and Nath Valvo agreed to tie for fourth place, Bek told 10 that she still felt like a winner.
"We were in the Top 5, we were so thrilled to be there [and] my only thing was, at that stage, gunning for my charity," she said. "I think that's what we were all gunning for, not necessarily being crowned King or Queen -- I know that's the show, but, at the end, it was really about going for your charity.
"By that last trial, we were so exhausted that I was just happy I had gotten to the end and did the best I could," she continued. "I was thrilled for Gary, but it was a pretty tough day!"
Looking back on the whole experience, Bek said she still hasn't fully processed everything she experienced in the jungle. "I feel like I'm reliving it all again, so it hasn't really hit yet!
"I think, once it finishes on Sunday and things settle down, I'll be able to reflect a little bit more about it. It was amazing, it was huge, there were challenging times, but I'll certainly never forget it in my career, that's for sure."
The actor who played Terese Willis on Neighbours had been asked to tackle the jungle for years. "I hadn't been able to do it due to my work commitments, and I just had so many friends who had done it and all loved the experience," she continued.
"I get FOMO! I wanted to see what all the fuss was about, and I just thought it would be really fun to do... and it was! It was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be, but it was so fun," Bek said.
While being dropped in the middle of the jungle with a group of big personalities was an adjustment, Bek said the trials were a lot harder than she ever expected.
"Some of them are quite scary, some are physically and mentally challenging. I mean, the food trials, for instance, I thought I'd knock them out of the park! [But] that was one of the hardest trials I've ever done."
Although an eating trial can be tough to swallow, it was when Bek came up against her phobia of spiders that she said she really struggled. And she quite literally came face-to-face with her fear when she had to put her head in a box full of tarantulas.
"I'm so aracnaphobic, I hate spiders... that was the toughest one. I was very close to calling it, I just didn't think that I'd be able to go through with putting my head in a box with tarantulas," she admitted.
"But the good thing I've gotten out of that experience is that... I've got a bit of a soft spot for tarantulas now," Bek added. "Not with huntsmans, that's never going to change," she laughed.
After the challenge, Bek said they brought a tarantula out for her to get very close to. "It was amazing," she said, "I almost called that one, I almost didn't think I could go through with it."
Reflecting on her time in the jungle, Bek said she had definitely surprised herself with what she was able to achieve. "There were a number of things that I came out of [the experience] with, different perspectives, appreciations for things, and gratitude... There were a lot of things I did, physically with the challenges, but also mentally.
"I’m a strong, opinionated woman, and I’ve always had this tough skin," Bek continued. "That’s one thing that I realised - I’m a lot more sensitive and emotional than I thought I was, and that’s been an interesting takeaway, most definitely."
During her time in the jungle, Bek was competing on behalf of Sane Australia, the leading national mental health organisation for people with complex mental health issues in Australia.
In a fireside chat with her fellow celebs, Rebekah revealed that her husband had been diagnosed with Bipolar I Disorder a few years ago, which is why she chose to support an organisation like Sane.
In challenging periods in the jungle, Bek said she would think about her charity and her family, to give her an extra push.
"There was one trial, the Ping Pong Balls with Cyrell -- I just remember blowing the balls and hearing my husband and my brothers going, 'Come on, Bek! You can do it!'
"The thought of my family and close friends got me through the whole time, but also the charity, 100 percent," she said.
"I’m really thrilled to now have this incredible connection with Sane Australia… I feel like I’m going to now have an ongoing relationship with them, and I couldn’t ask for anything better."
