Albanese To Discuss Steel Tariff Exemption With Trump | 10 News First
NC | News

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has confirmed the Australian government will request exemptions from the United States' steel tariffs. This follows US President Donald Trump’s announcement on Sunday that he plans to impose an additional 25 per cent tariff on all steel and aluminium imports into the US. Albanese regards his request as being in the United States' national interest, stating, "Tariffs of course don’t tax us, they tax the purchasers of our products." He has scheduled a discussion with Trump and will update the Australian public after their meeting.
