Two women have been killed at a church in Kentucky after a car chase that began with a gunman shooting and injuring a police officer on Sunday. The suspect shot a state trooper during a traffic stop before carjacking a vehicle and driving to Richmond Road Baptist Church in Lexington, where he opened fire at people, before law enforcement shot him dead. Investigators have not stated any motive for the shootings but believe the suspect had a connection to individuals at the church.

A small plane has crashed just seconds after leaving the runway at London Southend Airport in the United Kingdom on Sunday afternoon. Local media reported the 12-metre plane was returning to Lelystad in the Netherlands, where it is based. Videos posted online show a plume of fire and black smoke billowing into the sky from the crash site, while witnesses described seeing a “huge fireball”. The airport stated all flights to and from the site had been cancelled and it is not known if there were any patients on board when it crashed.

Dozens of protesters have faced off against a convoy of federal officers for several hours after immigration officials descended on a cannabis grow house in Southern California. Agents were seen blocking a road near the 5.5 million-square-foot farm in Camarillo, firing gas canisters at the demonstrators to attempt to disperse the crowd. Local media reported that Glass House Farms has a permit to grow cannabis in the Ventura County, and as of last year used half of the space for cannabis while half was dedicated to tomatoes and cucumbers. Torrential monsoon rainfall has caused major flooding across roads and low-lying neighbourhoods in Pakistan’s city of Lahore, disrupting traffic and forcing emergency evacuations across the metropolitan area.
