The death toll of mass protests in Iran has passed 2,500, with some human rights groups’ estimates placing it as high as 20,000. There are also reports that public executions will start today, with many of those arrested and condemned to death being teenagers and university-aged youths. Australian start-up success story Canva has drawn the ire of a pro-life organisation. After Roe v Wade was overturned in 2022 in the US, Canva promised to cover the cost of travel and accommodation for staff based in America if they had to travel to receive abortion care elsewhere. Right to Life have complained the design tool offers pro-choice templates but no pre-populated designs for pro-life causes with the group questioning if the tech company should be taking sides in the debate.

Adelaide Writers’ Week has been cancelled, and all remaining members of the Adelaide Festival board will step down after days of controversy over the decision to rescind an invitation to Palestinian-Australian author Randa Abdel-Fattah. The prestigious festival removed Dr Abdel-Fattah from the line-up, citing “cultural sensitivities” following the Bondi Beach terror attack. In response, more than 180 authors and speakers pulled out of the event in protest. Former US President Bill Clinton and former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have refused a congressional subpoena to testify before a committee investigating Jeffrey Epstein. In a letter to Republican Representative and House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, the Clintons called the subpoena “legally invalid”, adding the investigation was “literally designed to result in our imprisonment”. Comer is now vowing to begin contempt-of-Congress proceedings against former President Bill Clinton after he failed to show up on Tuesday to testify and may do the same against Hillary Clinton if she fails to answer questions on Wednesday.

The U.S. State of Minnesota and its two largest cities are suing the Trump Administration in an effort to stop the inundation of immigration agents on their streets, after an ICE agent fatally shot Minneapolis woman Renee Good. The State's Attorney General, alongside the Mayors for Minneapolis and St. Paul, say the Department of Homeland Security is violating the First Amendment and other constitutional protections. They are now seeking a temporary restraining order to stop the enforcement action or limit the operation. Federal officials continue to defend the ICE agent who shot Ms Good. This has been widely rejected, including by Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz, arguing that Ms Good and her vehicle did not present a threat which warranted shots to be fired.
