Los Angeles DA Opposes Resentencing Request For Menendez Brothers

Details

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman has said the Menendez brothers must fully acknowledge and fully accept responsibility for the murder of their parents before he would support their release from prison. At a press conference on Monday, Hochman said he would ask the court to withdraw the resentencing motion filed in the case by his predecessor. Erik and Lyle Menendez were convicted in 1996 of the shooting deaths of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, and sentenced to life in prison without parole.

The mastermind behind a $9 billion Bitcoin laundering scheme has been jailed for 11 years in the United Kingdom. 47-year-old Qian Zhimin, dubbed the ‘cryptoqueen’, was found guilty of running an investment fraud between 2014 and 2017, which targeted 128,000 people. Over 80 people were convicted in China, but Qian fled her native country via Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Malaysia, before flying to London. She then began to convert Bitcoin bought with the proceeds of the fraud into cash.

Two Dead, 18 Injured After Truck Crashes Into South Korean Market | 10 News

Two people have been killed and 18 others injured after a light truck crashed into a market in South Korea on Thursday. CCTV shows the vehicle speeding through a passageway lined with stalls before ploughing into a store at an outdoor market in Bucheon. Authorities say the driver, a man in his 60s who was not intoxicated, has been arrested, with sudden unintended acceleration believed to be the cause. Local media report two people went into cardiac arrest at the scene and were later confirmed dead.

Trump wrote on Truth Social last week, “It is a total disgrace that the G20 will be held in South Africa” and ”Afrikaners (People who are descended from Dutch settlers, and also French and German immigrants) are being killed and slaughtered, and their land and farms are being illegally confiscated.”

China’s Hongqi Bridge Partially Collapses After Massive Landslide | 10 News

A 758-metre-long bridge has partially collapsed in China’s southwestern province of Sichuan after a landslide struck the mountainside where it was built. Dramatic video shows a large section of the bridge breaking away and plunging into the river below on Tuesday just months after opening. The local government said police closed Hongqi bridge to all traffic on Monday afternoon after cracks appeared on nearby slopes and roads, and shifts were seen in the terrain of a mountain before conditions worsened yesterday. The bridge was completed earlier this year as part of a major highway project linking central China with Tibet.
