Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that "there are still pockets of Hamas" in some of the Israeli-controlled areas of the Gaza Strip. "There are actually two in Rafah and Khan Younis, and they will be eliminated," he said. Netanyahu stated that disarming Hamas remains one of Israel’s main goals, and "if this is not done in one way, then it will be done in another way, and everyone knows what the other way is and who will also carry it out."

Dozens Of Flights Cancelled After Japan’s Sakurajima Volcano Erupts | 10 News

Locals are on alert and dozens of flights have been cancelled after a volcano on Japan's major western island of Kyushu erupted multiple times on Sunday. Videos show a large plume of smoke and ash stretching from Sakurajima volcano, as high as 4.4 kilometres into the air over the city of Kagoshima. The Japanese Meteorological Agency said it erupted around 1am, and there were two more eruptions at about 2:30 am and again at 8:50 am. Local media reported it as the first eruption reaching 4 km or higher from the crater since October last year.

The Russian Defence Ministry says their nation's forces have claimed the villages of Rivnopillya and Mala Tokmachka in south-eastern Ukraine, as its offensive in the region progresses. The Pope, in an address said the Russian attacks "cause victims and injuries, including children, and extensive damage to civilian infrastructure, leaving families homeless as the cold advances".
