Voters in New York City are taking to the polls to pick their new mayor as front-runner Democrat Zohran Mamdani faces off against former Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa. The New York City Board of Elections stated as of 3 pm (local time) nearly 1.5 million people had cast their ballots, with turnout already surpassing the total votes cast in any NYC mayoral election in the past 20 years. Voters will also pick a new governor in New Jersey and Virginia and decide on a ballot measure in California to redraw its congressional district maps.
