Liam Neeson Steps Into The Role Of Bumbling Detective In First Trailer For The ‘Naked Gun’ Reboot

You may know Liam Neeson as a serious action actor with “a very particular set of skills”, but in the upcoming reboot of the Naked Gun series of spoof police movies, Neeson’s set to give comedy a red hot go.

The first trailer for the reboot was dropped online earlier this morning. In it, Neeson steps into the shoes of Frank Drebin Jr. - revealed to be the son of Leslie Nielsen’s bumbling detective from the original films.

The trailer portrays a considerably slicker operator to his late father, as he fights a baddie in a schoolgirl disguise with a sharpened lollipop.

The film playfully nods to franchise lore, referencing characters like Ed Hocken and Nordberg, originally portrayed by George Kennedy and O.J. Simpson.

Unfortunately, Simpson died last year, as did Kennedy back in 2016 and Nielsen in 2010.

While we’ve lost many of the original greats, we’ve gained a whole new star-studded cast, as well as some fresh new faces.

Not seen in this trailer but confirmed to star alongside Neeson are  Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, Eddie Yu, and Danny Huston.

The film will be directed by Akiva Schaffer and produced by Seth Macfarlane.
