New South Wales, 18, Student
Not your average 18-year-old, Andrea Farinha took on the role of family head chef at just 11 years of age.
Following the birth of her younger half-sister, Andrea's mother suffered a heart attack and Andrea stepped up to take on the kitchen duties while her mum recuperated. Instantly taking to her new role at such a young age, Andrea says it defined her and she carried on cooking.
"I'm proud to say that I've mostly taught myself to cook by trusting my taste buds. When my family realised I had potential in the kitchen, my Nonna showed me some of her cooking tips and Nana taught me how to bake," says Andrea.
