Their return was part of the first phase of the peace process to end the war on the enclave, which was signed off by Donald Trump and a host of world leaders in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh. The US President is now on his way back to the US, hoping the events of the past few days will mean an everlasting peace in the region.

Trump held a phone call with Putin ahead of the U.S. President's meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who will push for a supply of tomahawk missiles. Trump said despite the poor relationship between Putin and Zelenskyy, he will still aim to broker a deal between the two, who's conflict saw "7,000 people" in the last week die. "I don't think any presidents ever ended a war, frankly one war, I did, eight of them ... do you think Biden ended a war? Biden started wars because he was stupid," Trump told the press gallery.

Hundreds of mourners have attended a funeral in Jerusalem to bid farewell to slain Israeli hostage Daniel Shimon Perez, whose body was returned by Hamas earlier this week as part of the US-backed Gaza peace plan. Captain Perez was kidnapped from his army base in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, during the attack by Hamas-led militants. Israeli soldiers carried Perez’s coffin draped in a national flag before recently released hostage Matan Angrest and Israeli President Isaac Herzog spoke at the funeral alongside grieving relatives of Perez.

The Red Cross has received the bodies of four deceased Israeli hostages in Gaza City, and transported them back to Israel as confirmed by the IDF. The return of the bodies come as a part of a continued hostage/prisoner swap between Hamas and Israel as a part of the recently agreed ceasefire dela to end the war in Gaza. All of the living hostages held by Hamas have been freed, with thousands of Palestinian detainees in Israel also returning, however Hamas is reportedly facing difficulty in returning more dead hostages to Israel as locating their bodies in the rubble of Gaza is proving difficult.

Freed Palestinians Call Israeli Prison A 'Slaughterhouse' | 10 News

Freed Palestinian prisoners have recounted their experiences while in captivity after being released by Israel as part of the ceasefire deal. One prisoner told Associated Press the prison was a “slaughterhouse” which deprived Palestinians of food, water, and mattresses. Another said they were beaten, and he hadn’t eaten for four days. Israel freed almost two thousand prisoners on Monday after Hamas released all 20 remaining living hostages held in Gaza. The freed prisoners were taken on buses to Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis.

Dozens Injured After Two Fast Trains Collide In Slovakia | 10 News

At least 66 passengers have been injured after two fast trains collided, derailing an engine and a carriage in eastern Slovakia on Monday. Police said there were no reported fatalities in the crash, which happened in front of a tunnel near the village of Jablonov nad Turnou around 10am (local time).
