'Wasn't Ready To Leave': Abiola Takes $15,000 And Exits The Big Brother House

Feeling the Christmas spirit, Big Brother offered the housemates the opportunity to win big... but there was a catch.

Offering the housemates $15,000 to nab from the prize pool, Big Brother revealed that the first person to take the offer would also be opting to end their time in the house and immediately leave.

Before the full details of the offer had been laid out, Abiola's arm shot into the air, declaring her interest in taking the money. But when it was revealed that she would have to leave the house, there was a moment of hesitation. Ultimately, Abiola decided to take the cash and, with the support of her fellow housemates, she left the Big Brother house with $15,000.

"I wasn't ready to leave, but I knew in my gut I wanted to do it," Abiola told 10. "I wasn't ready to go, but I'm not sad that I left. I'm very happy with what I've gotten, and I made it three-quarters of the way through.

"It's about to get so intense, and I don't think I'm emotionally stable enough for that," Abiola continued, laughing. "I cried getting nominated, I know it's about to be crunch time, and I'm just like... mmm, I'm happy my relationships are all good with everyone!"

Despite taking the cash from the prize pool, the housemates rallied around her decision, knowing how much the money meant to Abiola.

"When my mum passed away, there was no money left over. So I have been on my own two feet financially since I became a legal adult," Abiola explained. "That money, they knew how important it was to me because I've been drowning in adulthood.

"To have this money means that I can do basic things, and that’s what I’m happy to go away with, and they all knew that. I need money to go to the dentist, service my car, and I haven't had a laptop in like five years," she explained.

With over $100,000 still up for grabs as the grand prize, Abiola also said she was more than happy to step aside in the hopes that someone else would win the sum and put it to good use.

"I wanted to do those things, but Conor wants to use the money and put it back into the community. I don't have plans like that, so that automatically makes me think someone is more deserving of that money.

"His main goal is to start a café that hires people with disabilities, so they can get jobs. That’s f**kin’ sick! That’s what we need. So, hell yeah! I will happily leave the show and let other people that I really care about have a chance of winning."

But Abiola would have never been able to put her hand up and take the $15,000 had it not been for Allana using her Head of House power to save her from nominations.

"Me and Allana were together a lot of the time, and she really did take on such a maternal role in the house," Abiola said.

"When Big Brother said for everyone to plead why Allana should save you, I was really nonchalant because I didn’t want her to use her power. She saved me, and I was like, ‘F**K! You must really f**k with me, which is dope because I really like you.' It’s kind of surreal when someone cares about you that much to do something like that.

"She’s actually the most selfless person in the house; she’d do anything to help people, and that’s just what I love about her so much. That’s what she did for me that night. She didn’t care what any of the repercussions were. She was just like nah, I’m going to save you. And in doing that, she let me have a chance at $15,000, so I need to take Allana out for a big fat dinner," Abiola laughed.

During her time in the house, Abiola stayed out of most of the drama, opting instead to nap through the many fights and clashes. So it was a bit of a surprise when she saw her name near the top of the nominations list last week.

"I definitely think there were reasons people could have voted for other people, and I was definitely shocked when my name was up there. The fact that it was about my sleeping, I was like, as if you guys voted me for this.

"I interact with you all already for like 12 hours a day! Surely you need a break from me anyway. I know I need a break, you know what I mean?"

Describing herself as "the person who was the least locked in about playing the game", Abiola admitted that she didn't even consider if people were using her sleep as an excuse to throw a strategic vote her way.

"I honestly can't even tell who's playing the game or not. I was just chilling, and I forgot most of the time that we were all against each other. I was like, true!

"I went around and asked people why they voted for me, and when they said sleeping, I was like... cool! That doesn't bother me," she laughed.

"I'd much rather that than someone saying I'm fake! All good. Vote away! I'm gonna go have a sleep and think about this."
