Bubbly and positive, Lucy Mansfield approaches life with a ‘glass half full’ attitude, jumping at whatever challenge comes her way. This year, that challenge is MasterChef Australia, and she’s all in.

Born and raised in Adelaide before moving to Queensland as an adult, Lucy’s connection to food was unavoidable from an early age. While dad David co-owned a bakery and managed a cheese shop at Adelaide’s Central Market, her mum Tiyen was a passionate home cook who lived and breathed food, with Lucy and her older sister as chief taste-testers.

Tiyen was a devoted MasterChef Australia fan and during the early seasons, with many encouraging her to apply, but she put that dream aside for family. Lucy can’t help but feel that as she pursues her own MasterChef journey now, it’s an act of gratitude for her mum. Having been adopted from Vietnam as an orphan during the war, Tiyen strengthened her ties with the culture of her homeland from afar through food, and Lucy feels fortunate to have shared this journey alongside her mum, seeking further connection to her roots and traveling to Vietnam to fully immerse in the culture.

A website designer running her own small business, Lucy is not only on the design tools, but manages clients and creates social media content. This ability to multitask with a creative mindset will be a huge asset in the MasterChef kitchen.

A lover of sharing recipes, food finds and reviews online, though she can’t go past a sweet treat, Lucy prefers to cook savoury dishes. She has amassed a healthy following across her social media platforms, with one of her favourite meals, her easy but flavourful Teriyaki Chicken Bowl, earning millions of views on TikTok.

A big MasterChef Australia fan, over the years Lucy has loved watching past contestants like Poh Ling Yeow, Adam Liaw and Marion Grasby dominate and has been inspired by Andy Hearnden and, of course, Luke Nguyen.

Ready to give the competition a red-hot go and push beyond her comfort zone, Lucy backs herself to stay positive even when the pressure is on and can’t wait to see where her MasterChef journey will lead.
