Prior to applying for MaterChef Australia, Shannon Smyth was a receptionist with a food dream, so when she hit 26 years old, she finally decided to take a leap to change her life.
"I want to own my own patisserie and florist on the Gold Coast. Just a quiet little place where you can go get a pastry and grab a bunch of flowers. I think some people think it’s a weird combination, but it's not, it’s a really good combination."
During the competition, her dishes were inspired by different cuisines and held contrasting flavours. Two all-time favourites was her Chinese Chicken and Sumac Lamb Rack with Heirloom Tomatoes, Eggplant and Smoked Yoghurt Sauce.
